Tribal Clash 2013

September 1, 2013

There was a lot of talk & excitement building up for this event 100 teams from all over the UK & even a team from Poland came over to compete for this 2 day brand new event.

The movement standards videos that had been released prior to the event got everyone talking about the great variations on what was to be expected, upon our arrival Friday night after collecting our bands for the weekend we could hear drumming coming from the beach & seen a great big Indian tee-pee standing tall - this was where everything was going on.

The drumming came courtesy of the wicked Taiko Drummers playing a great opening ceremony to get everyone in the spirit of things! Once all the teams & spectators had arrived there was a greeting for each team, then the Taiko Drummers went back on for another 10 minutes - then it was my turn to take over & play a pre-party chilled vibe to set everyone off for the weekend ahead, being told I was only playing for 30 minutes ... 2 & 1/2 hours later I had to stop as the music licence was only until 11pm.

So after seeing a beautiful sunrise & also a load of people running into the sea for a wake up at 7am - day 1 was ready to kick off at 8am, everyone was raring to go through the first WOD which was quick & sharp in the blazing sun, everything ran really smoothly, WOD 2 featured the Taiko Drummers playing the long part of day 1 & then it was back to me to finish off a first great day.

Day 2 was lead by the Taiko Drummers setting everyone off for the Trial Run, then it was back to me to DJ for WOD 4, after these WODs had all been done the cut had been made & the top 20 teams progressed through to the next stage, the famous 'tug of war' was done by the Taiko Drummers & then for the 5 part final it was : Rob Williams ft Taiko Drummers!

I have DJd alongside live percussion on previous gigs back home with bongo & saxaphone players, so I knew that this would be amazing for the whole final atmosphere!  So during the final while I was playing my tracks the Taiko Drummers were in full effect & everyone wax going crazy - I have never felt a place be so electric with the atmosphere it put a massive smile on my face & it will have people talking about it for a long long time.

Already there has been countless amounts of people updating their social networking sites with how amazing the whole weekend had been, location, weather, workouts, music & the camping that was there for everyone - it's safe to say that Tribal Clash has been placed firmly on the map ...

I'm already excited for Tribal Clash 2014!!
